Back in 2019, Pizza Hut UAE set out with a clear goal - to drive more footfall and increase online orders using a compelling Buy-One-Get-One (BOGO) offer. In a market as competitive and fast-paced as QSR, it wasn’t just about launching a discount; it was about cutting through the excess, unwanted noise, boosting brand engagement, and creating a campaign that would actually convert.
As the Team Lead and Content Writer, I led the digital marketing efforts end-to-end, from campaign ideation to execution. The focus was on building a performance-driven strategy that combined strong storytelling with data-backed decisions. We mapped out a full-funnel approach, leveraging Google Ads, paid social media campaigns, and targeted content marketing to maximise reach and drive conversions.
This wasn’t just another promotional push. It was a carefully crafted campaign designed to tap into consumer behaviour, optimise click-through rates (CTR), and ultimately improve ROI across channels. In this case study, I’ll walk you through how we identified the core challenge, built a cohesive digital campaign strategy, executed high-performing creatives, and delivered measurable impact, from increased engagement to tangible sales growth.

1. Understanding the Problem
Pizza Hut UAE approached us with the following challenges:
Declining mid-week sales: Footfall and online orders were high on weekends but slow on weekdays.
High competition: Domino’s, McDonald’s, and local chains were aggressively advertising BOGO and combo deals.
Limited digital engagement: Previous campaigns lacked engaging creatives, resulting in low CTR and limited brand interaction online.
Customer awareness gap: Many customers were unaware of ongoing promotions, particularly the BOGO offer.
Goal: Build a campaign that would increase awareness, drive clicks and conversions, and strengthen brand recall across digital platforms.
2. Campaign Derivation and Strategy
After thorough research and brainstorming, we developed a multi-pronged digital strategy:
a) Market Research & Audience Segmentation
Targeted young adults (18–35) and families, who are most likely to order online or dine in.
Analysed competitors’ digital campaigns to identify gaps in messaging, design, and engagement tactics.
Reviewed Pizza Hut’s past campaigns to understand what drove CTR, engagement, and conversions.
b) Core Campaign Idea
Concept: “Double the Fun with Every Bite”
Messaging: Emphasised BOGO in an emotional and fun way, showcasing sharing and indulgence.
Tone: Playful, vibrant, and mouth-watering, aligned with Pizza Hut’s brand personality.

c) Channel Strategy
Google Ads (Search & Display) – Capture intent-driven users searching for pizza and deals.
Facebook & Instagram – Visually rich creatives targeting engagement and conversions.
Email Marketing – Personalised offers for existing Pizza Hut loyalty members.
d) KPI Setting
CTR target: > 3%
Conversion rate: > 8%
Social engagement: 10 - 15% increase
Online order growth: 15% increase during the campaign period
3. Campaign Execution
Step 1 - Concept Ideation
The campaign kicked off with an intensive brainstorming phase, where I collaborated closely with the creative team to develop distinct directions that could resonate with different audience segments. We landed on three core concepts: “Share the Joy,” which leaned into family moments and emotional storytelling; “Workday Rescue,” aimed at busy professionals looking for a quick midweek pick-me-up; and “Double Treat,” a more product-led approach that brought the BOGO offer front and centre with bold, playful visuals.

Each concept was translated into initial mockups and tested with smaller audience segments through controlled A/B testing across digital platforms. By analysing early engagement metrics like click-through rates (CTR), interaction levels, and ad recall, it became clear that “Double Treat” had the strongest pull. Its simplicity, direct value proposition, and visually striking execution made it the most effective in capturing attention and driving intent - setting the foundation for the campaign’s overall creative direction.
Step 2 - Creative Development
With the winning concept in place, the next step was translating “Double Treat” into high-impact creatives that could stop the scroll and drive action. We focused on bold, vibrant visuals that instantly communicated abundance - pizzas presented in pairs, shareable moments, and compositions that visually reinforced the “2 for 1” value. The goal was to make the offer unmistakable within seconds, especially across fast-moving platforms like social and display.
On the copy front, we kept things sharp, punchy, and conversion-focused. Every line was crafted to be thumb-stopping and optimised for high CTR and engagement, using a mix of curiosity, urgency, and relatability. Lines like “Buy 1 Pizza, Get 1 Free - Taste Double the Fun!”, “Why settle for one when you can have TWO?”, and “Midweek cravings? Double it up with Pizza Hut BOGO!” were designed to be instantly digestible while reinforcing the core value proposition. Together, the visuals and copy worked as a cohesive unit, built not just for aesthetics, but for performance marketing impact across channels.
Step 3 - Google Ads Campaigns
To capture high-intent users, we rolled out a targeted Google Ads strategy combining both search and display. Search ads were optimised around intent-driven keywords like “pizza deals UAE,” “BOGO pizza,” and “Pizza Hut offers,” ensuring strong visibility during peak purchase moments. In parallel, display ads leveraged rich, appetite-driven visuals paired with clear CTAs like “Order Now - BOGO Today!” designed to boost click-through rates (CTR) and drive conversions across the funnel.

Step 4 - Social Media Campaigns
For social, we focused on highly engaging, mobile-first formats to maximise reach and interaction. Instagram and Facebook Stories featured quick, vibrant clips, like pizzas being pulled apart and shared, to create instant visual appeal and drive impulse actions. Alongside this, carousel ads were used to showcase BOGO combinations in a swipeable format, making it easy for users to explore options and move seamlessly toward ordering. The approach was designed to boost engagement rates, encourage interaction, and nudge users further down the conversion funnel.

Step 5 - Email Campaigns
To re-engage existing customers, we rolled out a series of personalised email campaigns targeting loyalty members with a strong midweek hook. With subject lines like “Your Midweek Just Got Better – BOGO Inside!”, the focus was on sparking curiosity and driving opens. Inside, the emails combined appetite-driven visuals, minimal yet persuasive copy, and a bold, unmissable CTA that led directly to the online ordering portal. Designed for both high open rates and click-throughs, the emails acted as a powerful nudge - turning dormant users into active customers right when the midweek slump hit.

4. Team Leadership & Workflow
Led a team of five digital marketers, overseeing copywriting, graphic design, social media scheduling, and paid media optimisation. Conducted daily stand-ups and weekly performance reviews to ensure timely execution and alignment with campaign goals, while creating content templates for Google Ads, social media, and email to maintain consistent brand messaging.
5. Results & Impact
Google Ads CTR: 4.2% (target 3%)
Conversion Rate: 9.1% (target 8%)
Online Orders Growth: +18%
Social Media Engagement: +14%
